Transportation Methods

Delivery methods must be established when medicinal goods are shipped and due to legal issues this seems to be a tricky issue. A more structured approach for transporting product will be required once legalization becomes nationwide and millions of patients become available for servicing. With cannabis being illegal to ship across state lines we wanted to take a look at the advantages and disadvantages between valid transportation methods and how their impact could help grow an already expanding industry .

Methods of transportation: Most commonly used vehicles in any courier service include cars, trucks and vans. Larger services extend their reach with boats and planes. With cannabis product taking up smaller space, small cars and small vans make sense to use depending on how much they are carrying. For larger hauls or multiple deliveries, a large van or truck would be ideal. Other factors to consider are gas mileage and efficiency/use of a specific vehicle for transportation. A small car would be best used for local deliveries, where the larger van may make sense for longer deliveries, say an hour or two away.

Due to the illegality of shipping across state lines, marijuana shipping options are limited to those standard vehicles mentioned above. The confinements of in state distribution leaves the option of boat, planes and trains out of the question. The future of the industry could see global shipping available one day and that’s when the use of world wide transportation methods would make sense and use.
